On the 18th of June this year the Government of Lithuania after the report of the Minister of Transport and Communications where the Mayor of Klaipėda city Rimantas Taraskevičius participated as well as the advisor Povilas Gircys of the Economic and Finance department of the Government Chancery and following the statements of the program of 2006-2008, discussed and approved implementation plan of the preparatory works of the construction of deep-water port in Klaipeda.

 

            It also obliged state institutions, i.e. the Ministries of Transport and Communications, Finance and Economy until September 30 to investigate financing possibilities of the construction of the port and determine the types of financing sources and the Ministry of Finance was assigned to submit proposals to the Government concerning the allocation of budget funds to Klaipėda County Administration for the completion of Klaipėda County Master plan and execution of EIA.
