The guests were welcomed at the Seaport Authority (J. Janonio str. 24) by Director for Marketing Artūras Drungilas, who presented an overview of Klaipėda Seaport activities, economic indicators of the port performance, ongoing and future projects of the port development, potential and capacities of the port. The possibility of increasing the export volume of potassium fertilizers via Klaipėda port was also discussed.  

 

In recent years, the relations between Lithuania and Belarus in the field of transport have become much closer, thus making a significant contribution to economic development and bringing mutual benefit to both countries. The estimated amount of potassium fertilizers to be handled in Klaipėda port this year – 2,2 million tons. Next year the company “Belaruskalii“ is planning to increase production of mineral fertilizers and is considering a possibility to transport the major part of its exported production  – approx. 3,6 million tons per year – via Klaipėda port. Fertilizers will be transported to the port by railways. Undoubtedly, the capacities of Lithuanian transport infrastructure – both railways and Klaipėda Seaport – will be adequate to maintain the above mentioned cargo flows. 

 

During the visit at the Seaport Authority, the delegation of Belarusian company “Belaruskalii“ was presented an overview of the Seaport Authority; the guests were glad to see that Klaipėda port infrastructure, flexible system of the port dues, capacities and potential are favourable for further successful cooperation allowing to look for mutually beneficial economic solutions.
