 On 7 August 2009 Adviser to the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania Rolandas Bražinskas and Director General of the Seaport Authority Eugenijus Gentvilas discussed possibilities of assignment of partial financing for development of communication infrastructure objects in SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority. SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority cooperates with Klaipėda City Municipality and annually provides and assigns funds for reconstruction or construction of access roads to the port. In recent years, financing was provided for construction of Northern Access Road, reconstruction of S. Dariaus ir S. Girėno str., section of Minijos str., Nemuno str. and other streets. Furthering successful cooperation between the Seaport Authority and Klaipėda City Municipality, the following questions were discussed during the above-mentioned meeting: 1. Possibility of the Seaport Authority to assign funds for partial financing of reconstruction of bridge over the Danė river in Mokyklos str. and viaduct in Liepų str. in 2009. 2. Possibility of the Seaport Authority to assign funds for partial financing of technical documentation preparation works for construction of southern junction between Klaipėda State Seaport and IXB transport corridor in 2009. Additional information: 1. Reconstruction of bridge over the Danė River in Mokyklos str. and viaduct in Liepų str: The works has been started in 2008 and are continued at the moment. Bridge and viaduct connects Priestočio str. and Mokyklos str., which are one of the main arterial roads that guarantee central access to Klaipėda State Seaport and connects northern and southern parts of the city. 2. Preparation of technical documentation for construction of southern junction between Klaipėda State Seaport and IXB transport corridor: This project implemented by Klaipėda City Municipality Administration and partially financed from Cohesion Fund is particularly important to the port of Klaipėda as it will significantly improve traffic connection from/to port‘s intermodal terminals situated in the southern part of the port. At the moment, a Feasibility study and an Environmental Impact Assessment programme are prepared, procedures of detailed planning are started, and other related works are completed. Long-term successful cooperation between the Seaport Authority and Klaipėda City Municipality is based on rule 8, of art. 33 Use of the port funds of the Law on Klaipėda State Seaport of the Republic of Lithuania: “…reconstruction and development of port access roads, compensation for loss and removal of structures owned by the municipality by the right of ownership, preventing development of the port, from the port territory and the port reserve territories (in this case, the funds shall be transferred to the municipality in accordance with the procedure established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania).” Klaipėda State Seaport Authority Marketing - Public Relations Geda Marozaitė tel. +370 46 499 708, mob. +370 615 30536 |
