On 26 June, 2009 (Thursday) Harbour Master of SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority Viktoras Lukoševičius took part in a meeting of directors of European Maritime transport sector „Developments in Maritime Transport Policy, Safety and Environment“ held in Brussels (Belgium). The aim of this meeting organised by Directorate General for Energy and Transport of the European Commission – to introduce the representatives of maritime transport sector of the European Union states-members with recent changes in the system of international maritime transportation and activities carried out by International Maritime Organization ( IMO) – paying special attention to the measures aimed at substantial reduction of emissions of ship-generated exhaust gases to the atmosphere (producing greenhouse effect). The discussions also included the nearest changes in activities carried out by IMO organization scheduled for the period 2009-2011.
