The era of cruise shipping in Klaipėda port started in 2003 when the cruise vessel terminal was constructed. The terminal functions are fulfilled by AB “Klaipėdos laivų remontas“, and it covers an area of 1,2 ha located 100 meters from the centre of Klaipėda. Vessels with a length of 315 m, beam 45 m and 8,6 m of draft are able to moor at the quays of the terminal (No 28-33). All tourist services are available in the terminal: taxi, post office, telephone, currency exchange, internet cafe, ATM (Automated teller machine), souvenir shops, bars, restaurants and hotels.
KLAIPĖDA PASSENGER AND CARGO TERMINAL
More and more tourists come to Klaipėda every year on passenger ferries and cruise ships, therefore, the port is rapidly getting ready to receive them properly and render qualitative services. For this reason new Passenger and Cargo Terminal in the central part of the port is under construction which will enliven the architecture of the city with the special building of the terminal and the port will be able to assure quick and comfortable and high-quality services to the passengers.
The new terminal will become a new axle of inter-modal transportations in the port and will be directly linked with the international IX B transport corridor. The terminal will be completed by 2013 using EU structural funds. The Terminal will serve passengers, cruise vessels and Ro-Ro ferries.
