The viaduct was officially opened on the 15th of April, 2011 . The new viaduct is a significant link of a railway with the Port and the would -be Klaipeda Passenger and Cargo Terminal. Witnin the framework of the project the existing viaduct (constructed in 1985) was extended and a new 85 metres in lenght viaduct was constructed. Each viaduct is the construction of reinforced concrete supports, beams and span plates. The total length of both viaducts reaches up to 170 meters. The railway communication via viaducts will be performed in two directions. These viaducts will ensure quick and sustainable getting into and out the future
Klaipėda Passenger and Cargo Terminal and will significantly improve access by railways to SC „Baltija" Shipbuilding Yard “, Klaipeda Stevedoring Company Bega, Klaipeda Stevedoring Company Klaipėdos Smeltė, JSC "Bulk Cargoes Terminal" and JSC „Klaipėda Reefer Cargoes Terminal" conditions.
The second part - infrastructure of Klaipėda Passenger and Cargo Terminal: construction of quays No 80-81 with a pier No 80a - 81a and development of 2 regulated ramps. To order of SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority (using EU INTERREG IIIB program funds) UAB „Hidroprojektas“
and
„KMT-Ingenieurgesellschaft MBH“ (on the basis of joint activity contract) prepared Technical Project for the above quays and a pier. On 25 of September, 2009 a Tender for the construction works of this object was launched (anticipated duration of construction works is 2 years). On 18 of February, 2010 envelopes of the tender „Construction of infrastructure for Passenger and cargo ferry terminal“ were opened. On 19 July 2010 the
winner of the tender was announced: AB “Latvijas tilti“ submitted the lowest offer price -
112 465 278,36 LTL including VAT. Term of the agreement
– 09-05-2013.
Having constructed the quays and a pier, 3 ships at a time will be moored at Klaipėda Passenger and Cargo Terminal (types of ships: ro-ro, ro-pax, passenger ferries, and cruise vessels).
The third - reconstruction of Baltijos avenue (central access out of the port) – is important part of the construction of Klaipėda Passenger and Cargo Terminal, that will ensure quick and smooth movement of transport flows to/from the port. Within the scope of the reconstruction of Baltijos avenue there will be reconstructed the crossings of Baltijos avenue with Minijos street, Taikos avenue and Silutes road.
To order of SE Klaipėda State Seaport Authority the project proposals were executed using EU INTERREG III B funds; presently Terms of Reference are prepared and Technical Projects are under preparation (using TEN-T funds). Having completed those reconstruction works, transport congestion, pollution and noise problems will be solved. Besides, new access road to/from the port will be constructed (i.e. Baltijos avenue, which is the extension of the motorway Vilnius–Klaipėda , will be connected with the port).

Klaipėdos keleivių ir krovinių terminalas“ – will develop superstructure objects: passenger service and office building, check points, covered gallery (for passengers to go on ships), parking site for automobiles, cargo storage areas and general cargo warehouses.
