Review of Cargo Handling in Klaipeda Seaport, at Butingės Terminal and Other Eastern Coast Baltic Seaports

Within the period of January – April of 2016 Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling turnover increased by 9,1 pct. to 13,29 mln tn, i.e. more by 1 108,8 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period of 2015.
According to the rankings of the change of cargo throughput estimated in percent (9,1 pct) the Seaport of Klaipeda occupied the 1-st standing in the list of the Eastern coast Baltic Seaports and according to the decrease of cargo handling volumes estimated in tons (1 108,9 tnou. tn) Klaipeda Seaport occupied the 3-rd position in the list.
Year-on-year changes of overall turnover according to cargo types:
- General cargo – 4 090,6 thou tn were handled, +9,1 pct. or +342,4 thou. tn yoy;
- Liquid cargo – 4 222,8 thou. tn were handled, +25,2 pct. or +848,8 thou. tn yoy;
- Dry and bulk cargo – 4 972,9 thou. tn were handled, -1,6 pct. or -82,4 thou. tn yoy.
2 214 vessels were reported to call Klaipeda Seaport in January – April of 2016, i.e. more by 10,5 pct. or by 211 vessels comparing with January - April of 2015. The Seaport accommodated 47 645 passengers, i.e., more by 0,2 pct. or by 91 passenger.
