Review of Cargo Handling in Klaipeda Seaport, at Butingės Terminal and Other Eastern Coast Baltic Seaports

Within the period of January – September of 2016 Klaipeda Seaport cargo handling turnover increased by 3,4 pct. to  29,60 mln tn, i.e.  more by 980,2 thou. tn comparing with the corresponding period of 2015.

Year-on-year changes of overall turnover  according to cargo types:



  • Liquid cargo – 8 685,2 thou. tn were handled, +12,6 pct. or +974,9 thou. tn yoy;
  • General cargo – 9 199,8  thou. tn were handled, +9,4 pct. or +791,8 thou. tn yoy;
  • Dry and bulk cargo – 12 010,4 thou. tn were handled, -6,1 pct. or -786,5 thou. tn yoy.


5 090 vessels were reported to call Klaipeda Seaport in January – September of 2016, i.e. more by 1,5 pct. or by 77 vessel comparing with January - September of 2015.

The Seaport accommodated 191 999 passengers, i.e., more by 0,4 pct. or by 702 passengers.  300 237 passengers, i.e., more by 3,1 pct. or by 9 018 passengers visited Klaipeda Seaport.

Cruise shipping. 50 cruise vessels with 63 038 passengers on board (more by 6,8 pct. or by 4 022 passengers) visited Klaipeda Seaport in May-September of the current year. It is the new record of cruise passengers that will  increase on including the results of October. In 2015 the number of cruise passengers was 60 202 passengers.
