Since now cruise liner tourists, Klaipeda citizens and town quests will be able to receive a comprehensive information on the history and culture of our town with the help of the audio guide "Klaipeda Guide". Klaipeda State Seaport Authority symbolically handed over the intelligent program – audio guide „Lets discover Klaipeda town with Ann from Tharrau“ to Klaipeda town.

"We are glad that the Seaport Authority being the socially responsible enterprise has the opportunity to contribute both to tourism development and to self-education of Klaipeda people. I do believe that the endeavour of all Klaipeda citizens is to make our town picturesque and attractive for all tourists. We hand over symbolically this program to Klaipeda Tourism and Information Centre and hope that this program will be attractive and helpful both to guests and citizens of Klaipeda", told the director general of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority Arvydas Vaitkus.

The state of the arts novelty, the free audio guide (linked with navigation system) created due to the initiative of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, is designated to tourists of cruise liners and all guests and citizens of Klaipeda. This mobile program will help to discover and learn about the places of interest of the town in an attractive way. The particularity of this audio - guide are the town stories, experience, legends and extracts from books narrated by Ann from Tharrau. Songs, the sounds of the beat of the sea waves, turmoil of medieval town provided on the sound track involve tourists into the whirl of the town history during their excursions.

"At the end of the itinerary the visitors are invited to breathe in the experience spirit, to relax and to enjoy their stay in Klaieėda", the international relations manager of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority Kristna Gontie, the initiator and promoter of this project, is more than sure that information on the Seaport town, its history and culture will be submitted in an extremely attractive way.

"We are not always able to do everything ourselves as promptly as we would like to, therefore we are very glad to have such partners as the Seaport Authority. We may emphasise that our joint activity lasting for many years has resulted into the increasing flow of tourists", told the director of Klaipeda Tourism and Culture Information Centre Romena Savickienė.

Audio - guide presents in three languages (Lithuanian. English and German) 35 places of interest, and over 80 photographs are provided. Besides, the program contains 3 short presentations on Lithuania, Klaipeda and Klaipeda Seaport.

The content, photographs and the sound track of auto guide will be supplemented in future. Furthermore, the program has the feedback form for appreciations and evaluations where everybody can evaluate the program directly in the device or write a letter and submit the opinion and evaluation by the indicated e - mail address and, in such a way, take participation in the development of the program content in future.

The contractor of this program is JSC "Peritus". The writer Daiva Molytė-Lukauskienė collected the relevant historical material and created the narration.

For implementation of this project, including the Klaipėda Town Accessibility Study, Klaipeda Seaport Authority received EU support under the project "The Green Cruise Port". The total value of the project was 48 thousand Euros, including 29 thousand euros that were spent to create this audio - guide.
