Cargo turnover hit the records in Klaipeda Seaport in September

This September the turnover of Klaipeda Seaport has increased by 14,8 pct: totally 3 164,4 thou. tn, i.e. more by 407,0 thou. tn comparing with September of 2013, were handled.

It was the absolute cargo handling record set in September within the entire period of Klaipeda Seaport.

The best results achieved in the handling turnover of fertilizers, grain and containerised cargoes (both in units and in tonnes) in  September are to be accentuated - 974,1 thou. tn of fertilizers, i.e. more by 471,8 thou. tn or by 93,9 pct. than in September of 2013 were handled; - 514,0 thou. tn of grain were handled – this was the absolute grain handling record within the entire period of Klaipeda Seaport (the year-on-year change was +52,2 pct. or +176,4 thou. tn);- 489,6 thou. tn of containerised cargoes ( more by +24,6 pct. or 96,8 thou. tn than in September of 2013 ) were handled – it was the second best result in the history of the Port (the record was achieved in March of 2014 – 508,7 thou. tn);- in terms of equivalent units (TEU) 38 748 TEU of containerised cargo were handled – more by 7,4 pct. or by 2 676 TEU than in September of 2013. Other types of cargo making impact on cargo handling results in September were the following:-agriculture products (649,2 thou. tn were handled, +33,9 pct. or +164,2 thou. tn);-oil products (463,8 thou. tn were transhiped, +3,5 pct. or +15,9 thou. tn);

Within the period of January – September of the current year the turnover of Klaipeda Seaport has increased by 5,2 pct.: totally 26,4 mln. tn., i.e. more by 302,1 thou. tn than during the corresponding period of the previous year were handled.

Other types of cargo making impact on cargo handling results in January – September of 2014 were the following:

- containerised cargoes  (4 144,7 thou. tn were handled. i.e. more by  +22,2 pct. or by  +752,2 thou. tn);

- grain (1 539,5 thou. tn were handled, i.e., more by +11,7 pct. or by +160,8 thou.tn);

- ore (874,1 thou. tn were handled, i.e. more by +37,9 pct. or by +240,1 thou.tn).
