„Silver“ spring of 2015 in Klaipeda Seaport

Pursuant to preliminary  data as of the 2nd of March the cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Seaport in February of 2015 increased by 2,9 pct – 2,95 mln. tn were handled, i.e. more by 83,8 thou. tn comparing with February of 2014.

2,95 mln. tn is the second best February cargo handling result within the entire history of Klaipeda Seaport.

The record cargo throughput result set in February was achieved in 2013 when 3,18 mln. tn were handled in the Seaport.

Basic cargo types that made the impact on successful cargo handling results in February of 2015 were as  follows:

- fertilizers – 1 090,4 thou tn were handled (+27,94 pct. or +238,1 thou. tn yoy);

- oil products – 599,2 thou. tn were transhiped (+36,3 pct. or +159,7 thou. tn yoy).

Basic cargo types with decreased in February handling rates were as follows:

- containerised cargoes – 394,1 thou.  tn were handled. (  -10,7 pct. or  -47,0 thou. tn yoy);

- Ro-Ro cargoes – 336,1 thou.  tn were handled (-3,6 pct. or -12,6 thou. tn yoy);

- raw and processed minerals, construction materials- 61,5 thou. tn were handled (-62,8 pct. or -103,8 thou. tn yoy);

- ore – 31,8 thou. tn were handled (-70,6 pct. or -76,4 thou. tn yoy).

Within the period of  January – February of 2015 the cargo handling turnover in Klaipeda Seaport reached 5,96 mln tn, i.e., more by 9,0 pct. or by 489,9 thou. tn comparing with January – February of 2014.
