An Unexpected Find next to a South mole

On September 23, 2008 (Tuesday), while measuring depths in the sea, a depth difference was found by a hydrographic ship „Varūna“ which belongs to the CE Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration.
On September 24, 2008 (Wednesday) the Port Authority‘s divers performed investigation 13.3 m deep and determined that the mentioned difference in depths at 55º 43‘ 38‘‘ of N. latitude and 21º 04‘ 10‘‘ of E. longitude behind the Southern entrance channel is constituted by the remains of an old steam ship. According to the divers, the shipwreck is wooden and is quite decayed. The seen part of the remains is 13 m long.
These old ship‘s remains do not constitute any danger to the safety of ship traffic.
